Meeting called t order at 6:30pm
1. Citizens comments – Ohamie Gallego (student from Texas State Univ) observed the meeting
2. Approve minutes from May meeting of the Animal Shelter advisory board – Pam Jones
Motion: Mary Treuter
Second: Kelly Andrews
3. Mickie Rundell, CFO visited our board to discuss possible future growth of the animal shelter.
We talked about how we need to plan now for the future and to move in the right direction we
need a master plan. Mickie talked about excess funds from the 2013/2014 budget that would
give us the needed funds to move forward with releasing an RFP for a master plan. The board
reviewed a draft of a RFP that was put together by Jackie Carey & Trina Bickford. We will not
move forward with this until we know that the funds are available to pay for it.
4. Presentation of animal services statistical and analytical report for August – J Carey. The board
reviewed the figures, talked about upcoming Antiques for Animals fundraiser & having a party
to thank our foster families.
5. Discussion and possible action about RFP (see number 3 above).
6. Discussion about shelter preparedness for distemper and other highly contagious illnesses – C
Albanese. Had a discussion about how the shelter is already vaccinating all animals upon entry
to try to head-off any possible outbreaks. The shelter staff always immediately moves an animal
that appears to be sick (running eyes or nose, sneezing) to isolation.
Meeting adjourned at 7:10pm.
