Members Present: • Chris Albanese (Chair) :: 2/16 • Mary Treuter :: 2/15 • Christy Hullum:: 2/15 • Pamela Jones :: 2/15 • Rachael Jonrowe:: 6/14 • Kelly Andrews:: 2/16 • Lyle Warden, DVM :: 2/16 Staff Present: Jackie Carey Minutes Meeting called to order at 6:03 PM. 1. Citizens comments – no citizen comments 2. Approve minutes from February meeting of the Animal shelter advisory board - Pam Jones Motion: Mary, 2nd: Christy 3. Presentation of animal services statistical and analytical report for February - J Carey 4. Discussion about current needs at shelter, including staff, equipment, space - C Hullum Discussed if Friends can support new buildings for the animal shelter at the same site. Move the fence back. Jackie and Christy have received multiple pricing options. (Jackie) Need new cages for cat adoption room. Last time was $6,000. Could use community room instead and add wall to make 2 community rooms; use all glass for better light and viewing. Getting a price to remove a solid wall and add 2 glass walls. Labor will be volunteered for installation. 5. Discussion about future growth needs at the shelter - C Hullum (Rachel) 2 choices for master plan: 1) do it ourselves; 2) ask Council to approve funding for professionals to develop plan. Need someone to put together a presentation with data to justify the cost. General consensus is that a professional plan would make more sense. Presentation ideas: (Chris will put together a draft of the presentation.) • Current facility information • Difficulties the shelter faces today. • Statistics of animal numbers. • Projections of future needs. • Mention plan for multi-purpose room as a temporary solution. (Rachel) Recommends the shelter have an inventory and develop a plan to include life expectancy of equipment. Use this for planning current and future needs. Meeting adjourned at 6:37 PM.
