Gonzalez asked about the average rent and mortgage for workforce housing in Georgetown. Gonzalez asked and Bills said the city does not currently have a good grasp on single family homes that are rentals. She introduced Clay Woodard, Chair of the Housing Advisory Board. Woodard introduced himself and provided an update of some of the things the Board is working on. He said their focus has been on multifamily housing. He said providing avenues for people to live and work in Georgetown has benefits not only to the worker but to the community. He reviewed the proposed site development incentives for the City Council. He proposed fee waiver incentives for the Council and spoke about the benefits of workforce housing to the City of Georgetown, He also reviewed the benefits of workforce housing to the workforce. Fought said he is empathetic to the idea that if you work in a community you should be able to live there. He noted the requirements should not be within in the City limits. He said it should be more within a geographic distance. He said there is another way to solve this and it is by increasing pay for City employees. Mayor said workforce housing also includes retail, service industry andhospital workers' Jonrowe spoke about how she and her husband would not be able to buy a house in Georgetown if the prices were what they are now.
