Call to order by Urban at 4:00 p.m. and he read the order of business.
The Historic and Araak..itectural Review Commission Sign Subcommittee is responsible for
bearing and taking final action o sign applications, by i utg Certificates of Design
Compliance based .upon t}re City Council adopted Downtown Design Guidelines. This i - a
regular scheduled meeting of the Sign Subcommittee, for consideration and possible action on
the following:
1. Review and possible action on the minutes from the December 12, 20]3 Sign
Subcommittee. meeting.
Motion by M¢¢ to approve the minutes. 3¢cond by Knight Approved 3 — O.
2. Public Hearing and possible action o a CertiAcate of Design Compliance Far signage at
City of Georgetown, Block 40, Lot 9 (SW/PTj, .0905 acres,.located at Y03 E. 8�^ St (CDC-
2013-OSSj
Daly presented the staff report The applicant seeks Certificate of Design Compliance
approval from HARC for exterior signage on the primary Facade. The request includes
anopy mounted sign facing Main Street, a projecting sign aver the 8th Street
primary entrance, door signage and a portable sign. Staff recommends. approval with
the condition that the canopy sign be placed between two existing tie rods.
Commissioners asked qu¢stiuns. Knight questioned the canopy sign blocking the
transom w ndows that were just uncovered, and stated ehe signage detracts from the
character of the building. There was further discssssion of placement options of the
signage and decided the current location would work. Knight asked the applicanq Greg
Bowden, why Hz¢ sandwich board. H¢ explained that they would most likely not us¢
the sign, but wanted the approval of the sign if they decided they did'.
Urban opened the Public Hearing and with no speakers ¢ommg Forth, closed it. at 4:10
p.m.
Motion by Knight to approve the application with the addition of the A -frame sign,
and condition that the c copy sign be placed between the second and third tie -rode

Daly presented the staff report. The applicant seeks Certificate of Design Compliance
approval from HARC for exterior signage on the primazy facade. Tl-ae request includes

issioners asked questions of the applicant, Ray Shawley of Affordable Signs, and
discussed the intent of the applicants. The burin Visiting Agents will be o e half of

their signage, leaving r m for the future tenant. 'The front side door will be allocated to
the Visiting Angels business and the new sspstairs tenant will be given the back door if
signage is. needed. A canopy o; flush mounted sign for the additional tenant may or
ay not be needed.
Knight's c encs included the £act that the white background of the signal presented

also needs to be scaled down to fit underneath the mullion of one of tragi windows. She
cited Guidelines 9.1, 9.2, and 9.19.
