Judy Fabry led the group on a tour of the new building. Besides identifying the location of the murals in the children’s room, the panel members noted a number of spaces that will be appropriate for displays of art, such as the open area adjacent to the bridge on the second floor, the hallway outside the public meeting rooms, and the south wall of the stacks area on the second floor. B.Discussion of possible art projects for the new library . The committee quickly determined that creating a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the murals in the children’s room should be their immediate focus due to the short amount of time available to solicit and review proposals. Judy said she would talk with the City’s purchasing agent , then draft an RFP and send it to the members of the committee for their input. The panel members also considered an oil painting of a beach scene that had been donated to the library by Gloria Weisenberger. They agreed that it probably can be hung somewhere in the new library but its exact location will be determined after the building is finished. The panel members agreed to meet again on October 25 at 5:30 p.m. Natalie will invite Justin M. Smith, a blacksmith who has offered to donate a piece of his work to the new library, to meet the panel at that meeting. Meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m. Submitted by, Judy Fabry Staff Liaison
