L. Walden Drive, Georgetown, Texas. If you need accommodations for a disability, please notify the city in advance. Animal Shelter Advisory Board Members: Mike Slmpson, Christine Albanese, Mary Treuter, Lyle Warden, Max Mixson, Jerry Hammerlun Animal Shelter Advisory Board meetings are held monthly unless otherwise noted. Call to Order at 06:00 PM 1. Citizens comments. 2. Approval of prior minutes from September 20, 2012, October 18, 2012 and November 15, 2012. 3. Approval of minutes from December advisory board meeting — Christine Albanese 4. Discussion and review of proposed changes to Chapter 7, Code of Ordinances, related to Animals — Bridget Chapman, Acting City Attorney 5. Presentation of Animal Services status including statistical and analytical report for December 2012 - J Carey 6. Discussion and possible action on contributing to the Asilomar web site shelter statistics reporting — M . Mixson 7. Discussion and possible action on requirements of retail pet sales - Jerry Hammerlun 8. Discussion and possible action to capture shelter capacity and utilization metrics. M Simpson 9. Jessica Brettle, City Secretary Minutes of the Meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory Board City of Georgetown, Texas Thursday, January 17, 2013 The Animal Shelter Advisory Board of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met on Thursday, January 17, 2013. Members Present: Mike Simpson, Mary Treuter, Max Mixson, Jerry Hammerlun and Lyle Warden Members Absent: Christine Albanese Staff Present: Jackie Carey and Evelyn McLean Minutes r Regular Meeting 1. Citizen's comments: none. 2. Due to posting error we had to reapprove September, October and November minutes. 3. December minutes approved. 4. Presentation and review of proposed changes of Chapter 7 code ordinances related to animals presented by Bridget Chapman, Acting City Attorney. The purpose of rewriting the ordinances is to make them less cumbersome and more user friendly for the citizens of Georgetown as well as complying with state laws. Areas include urban farming, offering animals as prizes, dangerous dogs, feral freedom, fees, rabies quarantine, commercial pet sales, breeders etc. 5. Jackie Carey reviewed statistics for the month of January: a. Impounded 13o animals, euthanized 17 animals (3% dogs and 7% cats), adopted 56 animals (34 %)• b. The shelter staff is now complete with the addition of 2 new kennel techs. c. Art for Animals is well underway and hope the change in date and a more upscale event will bring in larger and more diverse group of people. d. The Christmas Stroll had excellent results. e. The volunteer party was a great success. A good time was had by all. f. A day with Santa at the shelter brought in some new folks and a couple of new members of "Friends" 6. Max is continuing to enter statistics into Assilomar and emailing them to Maddie's Fund. They in turn forward them to HSUS — ongoing. 7. Further discussion is needed regarding commercial pet sales, breeders, facilities etc. 8. Mike Simpson presented statistics. We continue to have space problems for dogs with only 14 spaces available it becomes necessary to double cages when possible. Currently cats are in relatively good shape but kitten season will be coming soon. That will change space dramatically. 9. Mike Simpson has suggested that we send a letter to Laura Hobgood -Oster thanking her for all of the rescue work she has done through the years at the shelter. It was agreed by all and a letter will be drafter and signed by all the board members. io. Open discussion: Max had a very successful turnout for his open house for all the ACO's in the area. Round Rock ACO's are hosting the next one this month. Max continues to work with Chameleon to iron out problems. Max said that Kelly Andrew has done a "bang up job" with the power point presentation in the lobby. Meeting adjourned 7:30pm. Respectfully submitted, Mary Treuter
