L. Walden Drive, Georgetown, Texas. If you need accommodations for a disability, please notify the city in advance. Animal Shelter Advisory Board Members: Christine Albanese, Mary Treuter, Lyle Warden, Jerry Hammerlun, Pam Jones, Christy Hullum and Max Mixson Animal Shelter Advisory Board meetings are held monthly unless otherwise noted. Call to Order at 06:00 PM 1. Citizens comments 2. Approval of minutes from January and February advisory board meeting 3. Discussion of budget for Fiscal 2013/2014 - Micki Rundell, Chief Financial Officer 4. Discussion and review of proposed changes to Chapter 7, Code of Ordinances, related to Animals - Bridget Chapman, Acting City Attorney 5. Discussion and possible action on selecting vice chairman and secretary for Animal Services Advisory Board - C Albanese 6. Jessica Brettle, City Secretary Minutes of the Meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory Board City of Georgetown, Texas Thursday, March 21, 2013 The Animal Shelter Advisory Board of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met on Thursday, March 21, 2013. Members Present: Chris Albanese, Lyle Warden, Jerry Hamerlun, Christy Hullum, Max Mixson Members Absent: Mary Trueter, Pam Jones Staff Present: Jackie Carey, Evelyn McLean Minutes Regular Meeting 1. Citizen's comments: Diane Coker and Laura Hobsgood Oster in attendance as citizens. Diane Coker states concerns about new ordinances, see her notes submitted to board. Wants to clarify the term "animal" in the wording to just specific "cat and dog" in this instance Laura Hobsgood Oster in attendance to support Diane's comments, and feels the spirit of the ordinance has changed since it was initiated. 2. January and February minutes approved. Max Mixson moves, Lyle Warden Seconds, all in favor. 3. Discussion of budget for Fiscal year 2013/2014. Guest Micki Rundell, Chief Financial Officer for City of Georgetown present to offer comments. Rundell explains the "City of Excellence" planning process currently underway, and explains that the city surveys completed shows that the citizens have a generally favorable view of the animal services provided. The City's goals for the future are that no pets would be killed due to homelessness, and that we would improve the services to meet the community needs and reach out to the community. She informs us that a business plan is underway, and will be delivered to Jackie Carey and shelter staff, and presented to Council. Council will see this plan in July budget meetings. Rundell suggests that future employee requirements be presented as full time employees instead of part time, so the city can maximize the investment in new employees. 4. Discussion and review of proposed changes to Chapter 7, Code of Ordinances, related to Animals. Guest Bridget Chapman, Acting City Attorney present to offer comments. Chapman explains the revisions she had made to language in the ordinance since last meeting. April 23`d will be the council workshop and presentation of the ordinances to Council. The first reading will be April 23rd, and the second reading will be at a May City Council meeting. The workshop will begin at 3pm on April 23 ". Board offers additional wording suggestions, that Bridget will incorporate into existing language before next meeting. 5. Discussion and action, selected new vice chairman and secretary for Animal Shelter Advisory Board. Jerry Hammerlun nominates Mary Treuter for Vice Chair, Max Mixson seconds. All approve. Jerry Hamerlun nominates Pam Jones as secretary, Max Mixson seconds. All approve. 6. Presentation of animal services status for February by Jackie Carey. Shelter had good numbers for the month. The Friends of the Animal Shelter raised over $11,000 at a February fundraiser called "Art for Animals." Meeting adjourned at 7:25 pm.
