HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_ANSAB_07.16.2009Minutes of the Meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory Board City of Georgetown, Texas Thursday, July 16, 2009 The Animal Shelter Advisory Board of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met on Thursday, July 16, 2009. Members Present: Christy Hullum, Chair, Keith Fruge, Secretary, Mary Treuter, and Jackie Carey. Members Absent: Patty Eason and Mike Simpson, Vice Chair. Staff Present: Ken Finn Minutes Regular Meeting 1. Citizens comments —none. 2. Approval of minutes from the June advisory board meeting — Jackie Carey motion to approve and Keith Fruge second. Minutes were approved unanimously. 3. Discussion and possible action on issues relating to ownership and keeping of pit bull dogs and other animals that could be potentially dangerous within the City Limits of Georgetown — Citizen requesting agenda item was not present. One of a group of three citizens present was allowed to speak to the board on her concerns for the city to not disallow the ownership of specific breeds of dogs. 4. Animal Services statistical and analytical report for the month of March, 2009 — Ken Finn discussed the report for June 2009. 5. Discussion and possible action on disaster preparedness as it relates to Animal Services. — Ken Finn discussed how Central Texas animal shelters being used in a disaster situation will have trained teams provided by local communities, with Austin having the lead, to setup the shelters and oversee the operation of the shelters. Additional shelters would be added as necessary. 6. Discussion and possible action on a Standard Operating Procedure relating to the declawing of cats /kittens adopted from the Georgetown Animal Shelter — The board directed staff to prepare a draft SOP and present it to the board at the next meeting. Mary Treuter motioned and Christy Hullum second. The vote was unanimous. Meeting adjourned by Christy Hullum at 6:45 p.m.
