The Animal Shelter Advisory Board of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met on Thursday , May 15, 2008.
Members Present:
Debbie Frase, Chair, Keith Fruge, Secretary, Christy Hullum, Holly Garland, and Jackie Carey.
Members Absent:
Pattie Eason and Erica Haley, DVM

Ken Finn
Minutes
Regular Meeting
Meeting called to order at 6:03 p.m. by Debbie Frase.
1. Citizens comments – none.
2. February 2008 minutes – Minutes were accepted unanimously after correcting a minor typographical
error.
3. Election of Advisory Board Officers – Board members chose unanimously to maintain existing
board officers for the current term.
4. Discussion and possible action on dog tethering ordinance – City legal advisor recommended
that the advisory board vote to have the draft dog tethering ordinance presented to the city council. The
board voted unanimously to have the draft ordinance presented to the city council at the earliest
opportunity.
5. Shelter Report for April – Ken Finn presented the shelter reports. Returns to owners continues to
trend up and is likely attributable to the microchipping program. Ken plans to begin tracking microchipping
intake and return statistics later this year. Cat nuisance complaints remain high with no specific cause
apparent. A discussion took place about the current usage of breed as a category under the euthanized
category. Ken will relook the appropriateness of the current usage and report back to the board.
6. Discussion and possible action on dog fencing fundraising – Georgetown Animal Outreached
accepted when asked if they were willing to take the lead to collect, hold and allocate donated funds for
disbursement to citizens in need of financial assistance for fencing to possible meet the requirements of
the proposed dog tethering ordinance. Christy Hullum and Holly Garland will lead the effort to plan a fund
raiser for this cause on the city square in cooperation with local merchants. Details will be discussed at
upcoming advisory board meetings.
7. Discussion and possible action on new SOP – Item was postponed to the next advisory board
meeting.
8. Kelly, a reporter for the Williamson County Sun newspaper, arrived at approximately 6:15 to listen to
the board proceedings.
