Historic and Architectural Review Commission Meeting
Minutes
Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 6:00 p.m.
City Council Chambers, located at 101 E. 7th St.
Georgetown, TX 78626
Members Present: Rick O’Donnell, Chair Tommy Gonzalez, Vice-chair; John Chapman, Chris
Damon, J.C. Johnson, Nancy Knight and Linda McCalla.
Members Absent: none
Staff Present: Robbie Wyler, Historic District Planner; and Karen Frost, Recording Secretary
The meeting was called to order at 6:02 p.m. by Chair O’Donnell.
The Historic and Architectural Review Commission is responsible for hearing and taking final
action on applications, by issuing Certificates of Design Compliance based upon the City Council
adopted Downtown Design Guidelines. This is a regular scheduled meeting of the Historic and
Architectural Review Commission, for consideration and possible action on the following:
Consent Agenda:
The Consent Agenda includes non-controversial and routine items that the Commission may act
on with one single vote. A Commissioner or any member of the public may request that any item
from the Consent Agenda be pulled in order that the Commission discuss and act upon it
individually as part of the Regular Agenda. The Historic and Architectural Review
Commission's approval of an item on the Consent Agenda will be consistent with the staff
recommendation described in the report, unless otherwise noted.
1. Review and possible approval of the minutes from the January 24, 2008 regular meeting.
2. Consideration and possible action on a request for a Certificate of Design Compliance for
signage at City of Georgetown, Block 41, Lot 5(pt) located at 714 S. Austin Avenue Suite #102,
if referred by the HARC Sign Subcommittee. (CDC-2008-004)
3. Consideration and possible action on a request for a Certificate of Design Compliance for
signage at Lost Addition, Block 13, Lot 1, Located at 103 W. 11th Street, if referred by the
HARC Sign Subcommittee. (CDC-2008-005)
Motion by John Chapman to approve the consent agenda. Second by Gonzalez. Approved 6
– 0.
Regular Agenda:
4. Consideration and possible action on a request for a Certificate of Design Compliance for
façade changes at City of Georgetown Block 52. Lot 4, located at 810 S. Church Street. (CDC-
2008-001)
Robbie Wyler presented the application for the domed awning, stating it was in compliance
with the Design Guidelines and recommending approval. Ann Seaman, the applicant/
owner, brought a sample of the material to be used on the awning.
Motion by Knight to approve the CDC application as presented. Second by Gonzalez.
Approved 6 – 0.

5. Consideration and possible action on a request for a Certificate of Design Compliance for
signage and awnings at Lost Addition, Block 13, Lots 3-4 and 7-8, located at 1003 S. Austin
Avenue. (CDC-2008-003)
Wyler presented the application for a new awning at the Wonderful Things business, stating
it was in compliance with the Design Guidelines and recommending approval. A
Commissioner expressed concern over the side of the building being used for future signs of
other businesses. Wyler pointed out that these would be dealt with at the time of application
if presented.
Motion by McCalla to approve the signage and awning as presented in the application.
Second by Chapman. Approved 6 – 0.
6. Comments, questions and general discussion from Commission and/or staff and reminder of
the next meeting of the Commission on March 27, 2008.
Everyone said goodbye and appreciation of their service to the outgoing members, Chapman
and Damon.
Chair O’Donnell adjourned the meeting at 6:17 p.m.
