Historic and Architectural Review Commission Sign Subcommittee Meeting
Minutes
Thursday, October 09, 2008 at 4:00 p.m.
Georgetown Municipal Complex
300-1 Industrial Avenue, Georgetown, TX 78627
Members Present: Tommy Gonzalez, Chair; and J.C. Johnson
Members Absent: Nancy Knight
Staff Present: Robbie Wyler, Historic District Planner; and Cathy Sisk, Recording Secretary
The meeting was called to order by Chair, Tommy Gonzalez at 4:01 p.m.
The Historic and Architectural Review Commission Sign Subcommittee is responsible for
hearing and taking final action on sign applications, by issuing Certificates of Design
Compliance based upon the City Council adopted Downtown Design Guidelines. This is a
regular scheduled meeting of the Sign Subcommittee, for consideration and possible action on
the following:
1. Review and possible approval of the minutes from the September 25, 2008 Sign
Subcommittee meeting.
Motion by Johnson to approve the minutes. Second by Gonzalez. Approved 2-0.
2. Consideration and possible action on a request for a Certificate of Design Compliance for
signage at City of Georgetown, Block 28, Lot 1-8 located at 501 South Austin Avenue. (CDC-
2008-034)
The staff report was presented by Wyler and approval of the Certificate of Design
Compliance for the Master Sign Plan as proposed by the applicant with the consideration of
two items. Staff feels it is best that the businesses not provide contact information and hours
of operation on the exterior windows and that there be no projecting sign on the upper story
of the building facing Austin Avenue.
Board read over reports.
Motion by Johnson to take this application to the next full commission meeting on October
30, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. Second by Gonzalez. Approved 2 – 0.
Chair Gonzalez adjourned the meeting at 4.16 p.m.
The Subcommittee may forward these items to the next meeting of the Historic and
Architectural Review Committee for its consideration. That meeting is scheduled for
October 30, 2008.
