The Animal Shelter Advisory Board of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met on Thursday , December 14,
2006.

Minutes
Regular Meeting
Meeting called to order at 6:03 p.m. by Chair, Shawn Gunnin.
1. Citizen comments – none.
2. September 2006 minutes – Motion by Shawn Gunnin to accept the minutes as presented. Second by
Keith Fruge. Minutes were accepted unanimously.
3. Report from Shelter Director – Ken Finn reported on the statistics for animal services for the month
of November. Most categories continue to trend positively. Sales of the shelter calendar have been brisk
and the shelter lecture series will continue into 2007.
4. Update and possible on task force reviewing HSUS recommendations – Item discussion was
postponed until the January 2007 advisory board meeting.
5. Discussion and possible action on disaster preparedness planning – Ken presented an outline of
the Animal Element of City of Georgetown Disaster Preparedness Plan and a list of proposed assignment
areas for board members or other volunteer groups or individuals. Initial assignments were made and
follow-on discussion is planned for the January 2007 board meeting.
6. Update and possible action on proposed City ordinance revisions. – Shawn led discussion on the
results of the second reading of the proposed changes to the city animal ordinances. The proposal was
passed unanimously by the city council and is now in effect. This was considered a milestone in the
efforts by the advisory board and animal shelter personnel for improving the quality of life for city citizens
and pets alike.
