Walden Drive, Georgetown, Texas. If you need accommodations for a disability, please notify the city in advance. Animal Shelter Advisory Board Members: Mike SImpson, Max Mixson, Mary Treuter, Christine Albanese, Lyle Warden and Jerry Hammerlun Animal Shelter Advisory Board meetings are held monthly unless otherwise noted. Call to Order at 06:00 PM 1. Citizens comments. 2. Approval of minutes from November advisory board meeting – Christine Albanese 3. Presentation of Animal Services status including statistical and analytical report for November 2012 - J Carey 4. Discussion and possible action of changes to shelter reporting – M. Mixson 5. Discussion and possible action on requirements of retail pet sales - Jerry Hammerlun 6. Discussion and possible action to capture shelter capacity and utilization metrics. M Simpson 7. Discussion and possible action on Advisory Board membership positions. M Simpson 8. Open discussion of Animal Shelter and Animal Services operations and marketing. – M. Members Present: Mike Simpson (chair), Mary Treuter, Christine Albanese, Max Mixson, Jerry Hammerlun, Lyle Warden. Members Absent: Staff Present: Jackie Carey, Evelyn MacLean Minutes Regular Meeting 1. Citizens Comments: none 2. Approval of Minutes: Mary Treuter, second Max Mixson. Minutes from the November meeting were approved. 3. Presentation of Animal Services Statistics: Jackie Carey reported on both October and November stats. October 55 cats were euthanized due to illness and increase feral cats received. November euthanized rate was at 15%. Fund-raiser “Drink Wine Save Puppies” raised over $2,000. November also had two off-site adoption events. Accepted the resignation of animal tech, Ashley Kilgore. New animal tech, Carmen Marburger will be starting in December. 4.Discussion on changes to the way the shelter is reporting stats. Max Mixson introduced the Asilomar Reporting for both October and November stats. Max will investigate with Chameleon on how the shelter can be included in Maddies Fund Reporting. 5.Discussion and possible action on requirement of retail pet sales. January 2013 date for draft on pet ordinance. 6.Discussion and possible action to capture shelter capacity and utilization metrics. Mike Simpson presented a capacity spreadsheet showing that on several days every month that we had doubling up of dogs in adoptable kennels. Mike has added the “DK” (double kenneled) tab to report animals that were doubled. Also included were cats in Pet smart cages. Recommendation to capture one year of data for capacity analysis. 7.Discussion and possible action on Advisory Board membership positions. There will be three open positions on the Advisory Board for 2013. Mary Treuter and Mike Simpson terms expire and we had one resignation of Laura Hobgood-Oster. Recommend a letter of appreciation be sent to Laura for her years of dedication and animal advisory be sent. Mike Simpson will draft the letter. 8.Open discussion of Animal Shelter and Animal Services operations and marketing. Discussion on giving pain meds to animals after spaying/neutering if deemed necessary. Web site is updated with holiday precautions, certificates for animals, and area shelter information. Update on previous controversy. GAO took dog (Angus) for 9 days and then sent him to Angel Dog Foundation in CA.
