All of the runway models are cancer survivors and each will be escorted by a firefighter. VIP tickets are $80, which includes a 6 p.m. dinner at CJ’s. General admission is $55. Buy tickets at the door or at Fire Administration at 103 W. Ninth Street. Pink Heals 5K Run/Walk October 22 Starts at 8 a.m. at Ninth and Main streets. Awards for the overall male and female winner, and overall masters winners. Chip timing is optional. Online registration and details at pinkrun.georgetown.org. Pets in Pink Parade October 22 A fun pet parade and costume contest starts at 10 a.m. at the east side of the Williamson County Courthouse. The route is one lap around the Courthouse. Register online at pink.georgetown.org through October 19 or register in-person at Fire Administration or at the event. Chisholm Trail Days October 15 The Williamson Museum and the Service Club Coalition present Chisholm Trail Days at San Gabriel Park on Saturday, October 15. The event starts at 9 a.m. with a cowboy breakfast, live music, Buffalo Soldiers, living history camps, chuckwagons, blacksmiths, Western crafts, and more. (The chuckwagon cook-off has been replaced with a BBQ cook-off.) Don’t miss the authentic longhorn cattle drive along the banks of the scenic San Gabriel River at 4 p.m. Come to the Community Center for a BBQ dinner ($10 each) at 5:15 p.m. followed by the Centennial Ranch Rodeo at 6:30 p.m. at the Rodeo Arena in San Gabriel Park. Art Hop 2011 Art Hop opens the Month of the Arts in Georgetown with a reception at the Georgetown Public Library on the evening of First Friday, October 7. This fourth annual juried art show is sponsored by Georgetown Art Works. Pieces in the show include painting/mixed media, photography, and print- making. Prize winners will be announced at the opening reception. Entries will be exhibited through October. Mobiles in the Art Hop exhibit provided by the Texas Society of Sculptors will be on display until March 2012. The National Pink Heals Tour stop on the Courthouse Square includes a fire truck parade, pipes and drums music, and program. Sponsors are the Georgetown Fire Department, the Georgetown Association of Professional Firefighters, and other local fire departments. Benefit Sales: Pink Heals 2011 T-shirts are for sale for $15 at Visitors Center, Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, and Georgetown fire stations. Pink Heals Hope Pennants for $5 and 2012 Pink Heals Calendars for $15 are on sale at Visitors Center or online at pink.georgetown.org. The calendars feature firefighters with women who are participants in the fashion show. All Pink Heals proceeds benefit local women’s cancer organizations. Pink Heals Tour on the Square October 25 Pink Heals 2011 Discover the latest news about the city at www.georgetown.org Van Cliburn CompetitionMedalist Concert,October 23 The Georgetown Symphony Society presents Yakov Kasman, silver medalist in the Tenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, in recital. The concert at the GHS Klett Center for the Performing Arts begins at 4 p.m. with a free pre-concert lecture at 3:15 p.m. Tickets ($25, $20, $5) available at the Williamson County Sun, Georgetown HEB stores, the Sun City CA office, and at the door. Hayride and Carnival,October 27 Sponsored by the Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department, hayrides begin at the Community Center in San Gabriel Park at 5 p.m. Ticket sales end at 8 p.m. Tickets for children 5 or older and adults are $2. Children under 5 are $1. Georgetown Art in theSquare, October 15 – 16 The Square is turned into an out- door art gallery in this third annual event. You’ll see works from more than 150 fine artists in a wide range of media including clay, drawing, sculpture, painting, jewel- ry, fiber, and metal. October Events Georgetown AirFest on October 1 demonstrations, and see many other planes on display on the taxiway. Rides in many planes will be offered for a fee. Youth may be able to fly at no cost with the EAA Young Eagles program. Admission to the AirFest is free. (Attendees are encouraged to bring a canned food donation for The Caring Place.) Start the day at an 8 a.m. flight breakfast for $5 in a hangar near the Terminal. The drive-in public also is welcome to the flight breakfast. Come out to the Georgetown Airport for the second annual Georgetown Airfest on October 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. See a group of Soviet Bloc, Cold War era aircraft including an MI-24 Hind Soviet attack helicopter and two Czech military trainer jets—an L-29 Delfin and an L-39 Albatross. Other aircraft include a Huey helicopter, the Devil Dog B-25 bomber, and the C-47 Bluebonnet Belle (a military ver- sion of the DC-3).
