Minutes
Regular Meeting
Minutes from May 2012 Meeting: Mary Treuter made a motion to approve the May minutes. Max
Mixson seconded. Minutes approved
Animal Services Statistics report - Jackie Carey presented the statistics for May and they were
accepted by the Board
Considering Utilization Metrics for the Shelter: Mike Simpson presented a new flow chart that can
help us track animals, it displays the shelter capacity by each dog run and cat cage
Retail pet sales ordinance: After our meeting with Paul Brandenburg, he presented it to the city
council and the assessment was positive, particularly since no businesses will be impacted at this
time; Laura Hobgood-Oster will continue to research and will bring the information to the July
meeting; Laura will also send the information sheet we presented at the meeting with the city
manager to Dr. Warden and to Jerry Hammerlun.
Public Education Campaign: Max and Jackie reported on public education - right now one issue
is heat in vehicles - calls are up reporting animals left in parked cars.
General Discussion
At beginning of the new year do we want to start reporting stats along the lines of the Asilomar
Accords? This needs to be on the agenda for next month.
Laura asked Jackie about the way that ACO calls are counted by the police department; they are
probably being under-counted so Jackie will follow-up on this.
Some New Topics for Public Education campaigns: emergency evacuation, what to do when
you're out of town, is a possibility
Next meeting is July 12 (second Tuesday rather than third Tuesday) - agenda needs to be posted
by July 5.
Meeting adjourned.
