the Airport Advisory Board

The Airport Advisory Board of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met on Monday , January 21, 2008.

Minutes
Regular Meeting
1. Call to order.
Vice-Chairman Hopper called the meeting to order at 7:02 P.M.
2. Consideration and Approval of Minutes of November 19, 2007, meeting.
(Note: The Airport Advisory Board did not meet in December 2007.)
Ken Arnold : Motion to approve the minutes of November 19, 2007.
Katherine Woods : I second the motion.
Motion approved 6-0.
3. Airport Manager’s Report:
November & December 2007 Monthly Income and Expense Reports
Travis McLain : Two reports for November and December 2007.
Report on Noise Study and Master Plan Update
Travis McLain : The FAA forms 7460’s have been submitted to TxDOT by consultant, GRW Willis. This is to
install obstruction lights on the west side of the approach of runway 18 (installation of three poles with ob lights to
approach 18 & six poles to approach 36).
Report on Council Actions
Travis McLain: None.
Report on Control Tower
Travis McLain : The Shout Line is in place and the radio control frequency to runway lights changed to 120.225
FAA to change frequency to runway 36 PAPI. Telephone access to AWOS Broadcast now available at (512) 869 -
3430, 24/7. AWOS VHF frequency changed to 118.6 (same as ATIS). We have installed a new city radio in the
Tower with the Fire Department frequency enabling the Controllers to directly talk to fire units in an emergency.

Report on Airport Safety
None.
Report on Airport Construction Projects
Travis McLain : Other than the changing the frequencies on the runway lights and the radio control PAPI (RW 18 &
RW 36) over to the tower frequency (from 123.0 to tower frequency 120.225), we are also applying for a R AMP
(routine airport maintenance project) grant from TxDOT (50/50). We will rehab the entrance gate operators from
solar panels to 120 volt battery charge; to include bids from electricians and gate operators.

4. Citizens Wishing to Address the Board
None.
5. Consideration and possible action to approve and adopt the Airport Advisory Board By -Laws.
Travis McLain : Actually there are no changes, in fact ARTICLE I. NAME AND PURPOSE, Section 1.2 Purpose,
is the only thing specific to the Airport Advisory Board. The City Council over the last six months has fine tuned the
By-Laws with the City Attorney so that all the boards have the same By-Laws with the exception of the Purpose.
They have asked each board to approve their By-Laws accordingly.
Van Chandler : Motion to approve and adopt the Airport Advisory Board By-Laws.
Ken Arnold: I second the motion.
Motion approved 6-0.
6. Consideration and possible action for setting Agenda Items for the February 18, 2008, meeting.
John Hopper : Agenda item(s) for the February 18, 2008 meeting?
Ken Arnold : What is the status of the workshop with City Council?
Travis McLain : That workshop is on hold until TxDOT can put together a PowerPoint presentation for the Council
on the obstruction issues so that the Board, Council, and TxDOT can formally discuss.
Katherine Woods : There was an article in the Williamson County Sun about a group of kids that are meeting at the
airport (Civil Air Patrol) and they are building something in one of the hangars, what are they building?
Travis McLain : The Civil Air Patrol is a tenant of a T -Hangar at the airport. I missed the article. I do not know, but
I will find out.
John Hopper : The City of Georgetown provides the hangar rent-free to the CAP.
