Members absent: Van Chandler, Daryl Dressler and Ken Arnold. 1. Call to order. Chairman Paul Smith called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. 2. Consideration and Approval of Minutes of July 16, 2007, meeting. John Hopper: Motion to approve the minutes of July 16 2007. Katherine Woods : I second the motion. Motion approved 4-0. 3. Airport Manager’s Report: July 2007 Monthly Income and Expense Reports Travis McLain: (Report given) John Hopper : Does the increase in fuel prices effect the operations at the airport? Travis McLain : Yes. If you see the Avgas Sales from July ’07 compared to July ’06, there is 4,000 gallons difference. A lot of the avgas sales are the flight schools and they had to raise their prices to cover fuel prices. Our biggest revenues are the flight schools, visitors and businesses. Trey Taparauskas : I think that the weather played a significant part with only twelve IFR days. Travis McLain : Yes, that is correct; normally June & July are great flying months. Report on Noise Study and Master Plan Update Travis McLain : We are still waiting for TXDOT’s presentation for City Council. They were going to fly the approaches and take pictures, but every time they scheduled, it rained. So sometime this Fall their presentation should be available. Report on Council Actions None. Report on Control Tower Travis McLain : The FAA has relocated and installed the AWOS equipment from the Terminal building to the Control Tower. We have not received any official notification from the FAA as to when the tower controllers will be starting. However, the FAA and RVA are talking. They have hired everyone and scheduled but awaiting the O.K. from the FAA. Katherine Woods: Will they have an opening before they staff it? Travis McLain : Tom Yantis, Assistant City Manager and I are of the opinion that we have the grand op ening for the Tower with it operational and staffed with the tower controllers, so that the public could see better and have the full effect. Paul Smith : A suggestion for consideration as to a date - the business aviation community (NBAA) is having their convention in Atlanta, GA the week of the 25 th and it is three days long. So if they could avoid the later part of September. Travis McLain: Yes Sir, I will get with you as we plan. John Hopper : Maybe the flight schools will cooperate and we can get pl anes in the pattern as well as Mr. Thurmond to fly his twin beech. Travis McLain: We will invite TXDOT officials. Report on the Aviation Museum None. Report on Airport Safety None. Report on Airport Construction Projects Travis McLain : There are twenty-five new sign faces installed to identify the taxiways (A-D). General Information Items None. 4.
