Georgetown has the second -lowest in the area. Cedar Park has the lowest tax rate of $0.345. Hart reminded Council that $0.37 was the tax rate in 1987, but showed that because property values were higher, the City collected $360,000 more in 1987 than will be collected this year. Hart also showed a comparison of the sales tax, pointing out that the sales taxes in surrounding cities are '/2% to I% higher than in Georgetown. Wood recognized Mr. William Moore of 2903 Addie Lane. Moore claimed that the Homestead Exemption was $22,000 instead of $15,000 as Hart's chart had shown. Rundell said she had phoned the City of Round Rock to get that information and would follow up to confirm. Moore objected to the proposed increases in stormwater drainage and sanitation, asked that the City not increase the property tax, and also asked for a freeze on the property tax for City Council Minutes/September 7, 1995 Pad.,; 1 of 2 Pages senior citizens. He asked Wood to consider increasing the Homestead Exemption for senior citizens in Georgetown. Wood thanked Moore and assured him that the Council is dedicated to approving only those increases that are required to balance the budget. There being no further comments, the Public Hearing was closed by Wood at 5:20 p.m. Executive Session B Sec.551.071 consultation with attorney Regular Session C Action on Executive Session items There was no action on Executive Session items.
