920500 Governance discussion of: alternative revenue sources
Mayor Wood expressed his feelings that the increase in sales tax to reduce property taxes
was the view of the Council at the Retreat last May. He feels strongly that both proposed
increases will pass because they will be beneficial to property owners and help to build
a better tax base through economic development.
Hart explained that it will take wholehearted acceptance and promotion on the part of the
Councilmembers for the increases to pass.
The Council complimented city staff on removing the signs around the courthouse and
installing the public parking lot identification signs. Nine extra parking spaces would be
available on contract basis at the Nations Bank. The lot behind the Sendero Building has
been purchased and parking will be available there for $15 per month.
