The City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas met in a Public Hearing on
the above date at 7:00 p.m. with Mayor Kennedy presiding. The following
members of Council and officials were present: Councilmembers Barbara
Pearce, Luther Laubach, Mike McMaster, Ercel Brashear and Doak Fling, Deputy
City Secretary, Denise Lebowitz, City Manager R. Bob Gaylor, City Attorney,
Diane Callander, Interim Director of Public Utilities, Jim Briggs, Fire
Chief, Les Bunte, Director of Community Services, Hartley Sappington, Direc-
tor of Planning and Development, Ed Barry and Director of Finance and Admin-
istration, Glenn Reynolds. City Secretary, Leta Willoughby, was absent.
PUBLIC HEARING - 7:00 P.M.
Public Hearing to Discuss the 1988-89 Proposed Budget
Councilmember Laubach voiced his opposition to the proposed budget for the
record.
Sharon McCarty, Martha Allen, Clare Mashburn and Harry Gold appeared before
Council to ask them to consider purchasing the downtown post office build-
ing.
A consensus of the Council agreed to have the Special Projects Sub -Committee
study the issue and has -e the building.
Ralph Russell appeared before Council in opposition of the increase in
non-residential sewer rates. Mr. Russell stated that his consumption is
higher during the winter months.
Dale Cockrell also appeared before Council to oppose the increase in sewer
rates.
There
being
no
further
comments
from
the public
or the
Council, Mayor Ken-
nedy
closed
the
Public
Hearing
on the
proposed
1988-89
budget.
