John Wagner and Gerald Pohlmeier of TxDOT met with Council regarding the Business 35/Austin Avenue
widening project from Williams Drive to 6th Street, including the bridges. There was discussion regarding
the location of the sidewalk and the timing of the project, as well as status on other projects.
Discussion on Senate Bill 382 and its effect on Fire Services -- Anthony Lincoln
Lincoln explained that the actual adoption of the bill occurred on January 31, 2002, and in many cases,
Georgetown Fire Department is already complying with the rules and regulations. He explained the
difficulty in Georgetown regarding "two in and two out." He said, in Georgetown, because they have three
men on each truck, it requires two trucks at any interior structure fire in order to send two men in and have
two men remain outside the structure.
