BEGINNING AT THE GEORGETOWN MUNICIPAL COMPLEX 300 INDUSTRIAL AVENUE, GEORGETOWN, TX 78626 AND CONTINUING AS A TOUR OF THE AREA PROPOSED TO BE INCLUDED IN A COURTHOUSE VIEW PROTECTION OVERLAY DISTRICT Members Present: Chris Aadnesen, Chair, Johnny Anderson, Vice- Chair, Audrey McDonald, and Marlene McMichael Staff Present: Amelia Sondgeroth, Director of Planning & Development Services; Bobby Ray, Chief Development Planner; Carla Benton, Development Planner and Tammye Sharpe, Planning Specialist/Recording Secretary. Before the meeting started, Don Martin brought the Commissioners a map to reference to on the Courthouse View Protection Overlay District field trip meeting. Chair, Commissioner Aadnesen, asked that we continue our scheduled trip and then talk about the map that Martin brought them to review. Meeting started at 4:00 p.m. I. Commissioners and Staff met at GMC and loaded in van. II. Traveled as a group for the purpose of viewing the areas that are proposed to be included in a “Courthouse View Protection Overlay District” as part of the Unified Development Code. Bobby Ray drove our van. This is the route he took:  From GMAC to South overpass by Westinghouse  Took frontage road to North IH35  Exit on Lakeway Drive  South (Right) on Austin Avenue  U-Turn at Park entrance passed Recreation Center  North (Right) on Austin Avenue  Left at Lakeway Drive  Frontage to IH 35 South  Exit on 2243  East (Left) on Overpass  U-Turn onto IH 35 North  East (Right) on SH 29 frontage road  North bound on IH 35 frontage road  Over bridge (left) at Williams Drive  Left onto frontage road going South (HIGH VIEW)  East (Left) at light on overpass at SH 29  East on SH 29  North (Left) on Austin Avenue  West (Left) through Albertson parking to Spring Street  South (Right) onto Austin Avenue  West (Left) onto Industrial Avenue back to GMAC III. Presentation Carla Benton pointed out the times when the Courthouse was able to be seen throughout the travel. Commissioners and Staff arrived at GMC and went to Conference A to discuss the map that Martin brought. Martin’s map showed what he thought was the significant view corridors within the Courthouse View Protection Overlay District. Sondgeroth stated that Staff or the Director cannot make a decision where there is a significant view on their own opinion. McCollum brought in a calculated formula site – the site was behind Hope Lumber. The result was that they could not build over 20 feet in height. Commissioners voiced that they would appreciate the City Manager and the Economic Development Director to be present at the December P&Z meeting. Sondgeroth said she would try and get them to be present. IV. Adjourn meeting at the Georgetown Municipal Complex. Meeting was adjourned at 5:05. /tas
