SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2001 at 6:00 p.m.
DEVELOPMENT SERVICES CONFERENCE ROOM
904 S MAIN STREET, GEORGETOWN, TEXAS 78626
This was a Special Workshop of the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Patrick Walsh, Chair, called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. Other commissioners present were Gabe
Sansing, Vice-Chair, Chris Aadnesen, Richard Glasco, Marjorie Herbert, Audrey McDonald, and Robert
Seamans. Clark Lyda, City Council member, was in attendance. Staff present were George Russell,
City Manager, Amelia Sondgeroth, Development Services Director, Teri Morgan, Attorney, David Munk,
Development Engineer, and Tammye Sharpe, Recording Secretary.
Others present were Don Martin, Mel Pendland, Jack Pitmann, Bill Smalling, Julia Allen, Jim Broaddus,
and Jim Knight.
1. Discussion and possible action regarding proposed October 2, 2001 draft amendments to the
Interim Subdivision Regulations (Ord. No. 2001-45). Amelia Sondgeroth said that this meeting
was being held because of questions regarding the interim subdivision regulations and the
desire to clarify some the issues brought up on the last Planning and Zoning meeting held
October 2, 2001. Sondgeroth said that the copy of the redlined Ordinance provided was exactly
what the staff presented to the Commissioners on the 2nd, only this version had the changes in red.
(attached). Sondgeroth clarified that there would be no drafting of the amendments at this time;
that this was a workshop to get ideas and understanding. Walsh opened the meeting for public
discussion. Discussion was made as to how to approach going over the items. Herbert made the
suggestion that they take each section, and work with it that way. All were in agreement. Don
Martin passed out 2 pages of his comments on the Interim Subdivision Regulations (attached).
The group when over all the comments that Martin had. The new suggestions that were talked
about were on pages 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14. Sondgeroth and Morgan said that they
would incorporate the changes suggested and bring the commissioners something to look at for the
next Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on November 4, 2001, with the suggested changes
to be shown in blue to set them apart from what has already been suggested to change in red, and
the original in black.
2. Discussion and possible action to set a date for a Special Called Meeting of the Planning and
Zoning Commission to consider a Detailed Development Plan with variances from the subdivision
regulations for the Williamson County Criminal Justice Facility, Block 2, Lot 1 and City of
Georgetown, Block 22, part of Lots 1,2 and 3, located between Rock Street and Martin Luther King
Boulevard and between 3rd Street and 6th Street. Amelia Sondgeroth removed this item from the
agenda to be placed on the regularly scheduled Planning and Zoning Meeting of November 6,
2001.
2. Gabe Sansing made the motion to Adjourn. Chris Aadnesen second the motion, which passed
with a vote of 7-0. The meeting was adjourned at 9:09 p.m.
